Domain prices: registration, renewal and transfer

Three different payments

A registration price applies to a new registration. A renewal price describes the next term of an existing domain. A transfer charge concerns moving to another registrar. HostComparator separates these amounts for the same extension, original currency and tax basis. A low registration amount does not establish a renewal or transfer price.

Choose the extension and term

Use the TLD filter and check the actual payment period. A low first annual payment may differ from subsequent years. A purely fictional offer charging EUR 2 for registration and EUR 15 for annual renewal would charge EUR 32 for registration and two renewals. A complete total also requires evidenced mandatory fees and a clear tax basis.

Read transfer conditions separately

A transfer price alone establishes neither technical eligibility nor a specific extra term. Rules can depend on the extension and domain status. ICANN’s FAQ explains typical processes for the transfers it covers; the conditions of your specific extension and registrar also matter.

Check services and original evidence

Treat privacy, DNSSEC, support and management features as known only when relevant original evidence establishes them. A directory entry or low price does not establish those features. Each price observation retains its source link, verification date and unknown tax status. A later failed check does not refresh the price date.
